Welcome to Our Ministry!

ABOUT OUR founder and creation

Lorine Cady created the House of Grace in 1988. In 2012, Desoto Times Tribune called the House of Grace "...One of DeSoto County's oldest and best well-known charitable organizations which assists battered and abused women."

We have opportunities for people who want to support our clients directly and other work that indirectly supports the House of Grace operations. Service through our helpline and shelter are excellent ways to assist victims on their paths to freedom and safety. Administrative support is welcomed too and includes assistance with events hosted by the agency (and others) throughout the year.

Attached to our offices we have an amazing thrift store where you might be able to find some old or new treasures for yourself, your family, or friends at VERY reasonable and VERY low prices!

Donations are always welcomed at our thrift shop. The proceeds from the sale of donated items combined with your monetary donations are used to help the abused women we shelter and their children.

About Us:

A few domestic violence facts

  • One in 4 women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime.

  • Every year, more than 3 million children witness domestic violence in their homes.

  • According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, domestic violence is the third leading cause of homelessness among families.

  • Without help, boys who witness domestic violence are far more likely to become abusers of their partners and/or children as adults, thus continuing the cycle of violence in the next generation.
